Alte Wache Building
Many people believe our building is the most beautiful one on Großneumarkt. It was constructed as a residential and commercial building in 1875, and was used as a police station from 1932 to 2002, even gaining fame after its appearance as district station 14 in the cult ARD TV series Das Großstadtrevier.
In collaboration with the office for protection of historical sites of interest, we have renovated the entire house from top to bottom over a two-year construction period and converted it into 21 modern apartments. All the apartments have been fitted out to such a high standard that many tenants have no inclination to move out again. If you want to feel immediately at home in Hamburg, come and live in the Alte Wache building.
Our building has an elevator for easy access to every floor. It also offers a bike storage area and a laundry room in the basement, still fitted with its historic cell doors. We installed a high-tech cooling system for the garbage area. From some apartments, you can even see the two most beautiful symbols of our city: the Michel (St. Michael's church) and the Elbphilharmonie.
Our furnished apartments
All of our 21 apartments are bright and friendly; many even have a view of the Michel or Großneumarkt square. We have designed the layouts as generously as possible; with a ceiling height of over 2.90 m, even our 1-room studios have an almost grand atmosphere.
The building includes 17 2-room apartments, and 4 1-room studios. All of these offer a bathroom with shower, a kitchen, TV, dishwasher, and, of course, high-speed Internet access. Some sofas can also be folded out for sleeping.
Anyone who loves Hamburg's landmarks will enjoy one of our three loft apartments, which provide views of not only the Michel, but also the Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg's newest landmark.
Studio
When we designed our studios, we let our tastes be guided by the principle of "small, yet cozy," without forgetting one very important point: storage space!

When we designed our 2-room apartments, we focused on cool practicality. Add your own decorations to fill the apartment with life and create a cozy atmosphere, as our photographer did with some extra accessories.

The Grossneumarkt is a unique square in Hamburg. It breathes the history of the city at every corner. The location is central enough to allow you to access the Jungfernstieg and the Alster in just a few minutes, and it isn't far to HafenCity, the music hall, or the Reeperbahn district either.
In the 19th century, the Grossneumarkt was the heart of the city's historic Gängeviertel, an area of closely crowded streets where the citizen's watch marched each day. Today, the square has become a beautiful oasis in the big city. The weekly market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday right across from our building; there, you can buy almost any kind of fresh produce you'd like, or enjoy a little chat with the market traders to hear the latest gossip. A StadtRAD bike-sharing station is located right in front of our building; rent a bike to reach all the most beautiful areas in our Hanseatic city in just a few minutes, or choose to go on foot or take the bus or train instead. The famous – or infamous – Reeperbahn, with its square honoring the Beatles and its many theaters like the St. Pauli Theatre, is just around the corner. So is the Heiligengeistfeld, where the funfair – called the "Dom" – takes place three times a year.
You'll be staying right in the middle of Hamburg, but you'll feel more like in a little village. Small, charming shops and restaurants abound, like the Trattoria da Enzo or Karlsons Scandinavian delicacies. For jazz fans, the famous Cotton Club is just a block away. Drugstores, dry cleaning, and supermarkets are also just a short walk from the building.
And the Michel, Hamburg's oldest landmark, has been watching over it all for almost 400 years.

Events
In a global city like Hamburg, of course, there are countless events to enjoy. The best way to get an overview of these is to check out the official Hamburg City website.
Together with our friends, we, the three ladies of Springer Hausverwaltung, who all love our city, have created our very own list of not-to-miss Hamburg events. Here are the highlights:
Are you ready for launch?
From the Alte Wache, it's just 15 minutes to the funfair, boasting over 260 rides to entertain even the most dedicated workaholic. There's nothing digital about it, just full-tilt, real life fun! If you're up to the challenge, ride the Apollo 13, where you'll experience a rocket launch! Once you're back in your cozy home at the Alte Wache, you'll feel three times as relaxed. That's why a visit to the Dom is our tip No. 1.
Hamburger DomA must-see: the Elbphilharmonie in the HafenCity
It's said that good things come to those who wait: Hamburg's new cultural landmark finally opened in 2017. It stands in the Elbe River on 1,700 reinforced concrete piles and boasts a concert hall that accommodates 2,100 guests. It also offers a spectacular 360° panorama of Hamburg, including the Speicherstadt warehouse district and the HafenCity. Our No. 2 tip is not to be missed.
Elbphilharmonie
See Tina Turner on the Reeperbahn
This is possible in Hamburg, either before or after a stroll down the famous Reeperbahn. Allow yourself to be swept away by Tina Turner's music and her life story with the musical Tina at the Stage Operettenhaus. And if you feel like taking to the dance floor yourself, you're in the right place in St. Pauli. Our No. 3 tip.
